Traffic Infractions

One of the most important factors in determining your insurance premium is your driving record. Your auto insurance company may raise your premium for years if the infraction is not properly handled and taken off your Department of Licensing record.

Do not pay the fine just to get it over with. In many cases, it is less costly in the long run to contest the infraction

King County District Court allows up to 15 days from the date issued to request for a contested hearing. Other courts may have a different time limit. Make sure the infraction is responded to within the time given or the court will find that you committed the infraction.

Infractions that may affect your insurance premiums include:

  • Speeding

  • HOV/ Carpool Lane Violation

  • Failure to Yield

  • Failure to Stop

  • Improper turn

  • Speed too Fast for Conditions
